Although our last report about Barrow Island, West Australia, was some time ago, work at the LNG facility has continued apace.

The site’s latest QuayQuip fender installation serves vessels calling at the Materials Offloading Facility (MOF). Due to the wide range of impact conditions – the berth serves a variety of heavy lift ships approaching either stern- or side-on – a slightly unconventional dual QCN Cone fender design was called for.

Huge new Parallel Motion system for Barrow Island

QuayQuip has delivered another set of fender systems to the Barrow Island LNG facility in West Australia.

The centrepiece of the installation was a complete dolphin, preassembled in the factory for drop-in installation from the delivery vessel. The structure was equipped with two quad-cone (QCN1300) Parallel Motion fender systems, each rated to 3.2 megajoules.

Gorgon LNG – Initial Works on Barrow Island

QuayQuip supplied complete systems for a recent project at an LNG supply facility, from steel and fender units to the smallest fixings.

Full traceability for several thousand parts is never trival. Every fender supplied had its own ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) among other documentation. A team of twenty QuayQuip inspectors and engineers worked at the factory to monitor the process in fine detail.
