QuayQuip Arch Fenders at Lerwick’s new offshore support berth
Part of the new ‘Berth Seven’, in the Greenhead Base of Lerwick Harbour in the Shetland Isles, has entered service well ahead of schedule. QuayQuip supplied fendering for the project, a deep-water berth which will initially serve pipe laying vessels operated by Technip on behalf of Maersk North Sea Oil UK Ltd.
The new berth is equipped with 27 QPA500 Arch Fender systems in various lengths. The QPA Arch Fender’s robust UHMW-PE facing lowers friction between the vessel and fender system, and offers the extra protection required by an exposed site.
